VA is not playable. Like VI it is an abbreviation rather than a word, and the V remains the one letter in the game with no two-letter play available to it. If you are holding a V and the board is tight, the shortest exits are AVA, AVE, AVO, EVE, IVY, LAV, LUV, OVA, REV, TAV and VAC.
