Scrabble Words and Rules
Every word question here gets two answers, because there are two questions. Whether a word plays in Scrabble is a fact about the official tournament lists. Whether it is in ENABLE is a fact about the list this site searches. They disagree 2 times in the set below, and knowing which is which is worth points.

Settle an argument
17 of these play and 10 do not. The answers that are no matter as much as the answers that are yes: an honest no with a reason ends the argument, and usually points at the word you actually wanted.

Reference
The word lists here are generated from ENABLE and ordered by tile score, so the plays worth making come first. The two-letter page is the exception: it is hand-curated, because a list of short words generated from ENABLE would be wrong in both directions.
- Two letter Scrabble wordsThe short plays, each with a gloss and a tile score, grouped by first letter.
- Q words for ScrabbleEvery Q word in our list, ordered by tile score, plus the Q-without-U plays.
- Z words for ScrabbleTen points and no partner required. Ordered so the best plays come first.
- X words for ScrabbleThe easiest expensive tile to place, and the short words that place it.
- J words for ScrabbleThe hardest eight points in the bag, and where they can actually go.
- Scrabble letter valuesAll 100 tiles: what each letter is worth and how many of them exist.
- Words with Friends letter valuesThe other set's 104 tiles, and the twelve letters it prices differently.
- How to play ScrabbleSetup, turns, scoring, premium squares, challenges and the endgame.
Rack tools
When the rack is in front of you, the word unscrambler turns it into every word it can make, longest first with blanks handled, and the anagram solver answers the stricter bingo question: which words spend all seven tiles at once.
100 short words, and five our finder cannot see
The two-letter reference is the most useful page here, and it is also the clearest demonstration of the split this site keeps insisting on. Five of the words on it are playable in Scrabble and absent from ENABLE, which means our own finder will tell you they are not words. Our finder is right about our list and wrong about the game, and no amount of tidying makes that go away, so the page says it out loud.
What this is, and what it is not
The official Scrabble word lists belong to Hasbro, Mattel, Merriam-Webster, NASPA and Collins. We do not license them, we do not reproduce them, and we do not rule on whether a word is valid. What these pages record is a small, hand-checked set of well-known facts about how the game is played, which is a different thing from the dictionary itself.
Wordton's own finder searches ENABLE, a public-domain list of about 172,800 words, plus a curated supplement of modern words that ENABLE never had. Neither is an official Scrabble dictionary and neither follows their updates, so the two disagree in both directions: QI and ZA are playable in Scrabble and absent from our list, and plenty of words we carry would not survive a challenge at a tournament. The supplement deliberately adds no word on the strength of Scrabble playability, so nothing on these pages changed when it arrived. Every page here says which list it is talking about.
Wordton is not affiliated with Hasbro, Mattel or NASPA. Our finder searches ENABLE, a public-domain word list, not an official Scrabble dictionary. If you need a ruling that will settle a tournament game, the official lists are the only thing that can give you one.
