Why players ask
ZI is not on the word lists. It is a plausible-looking pair, and players holding a stranded Z reach for it the way they reach for QA with a Q, but it has never been a word in English. The two-tile Z play you want is ZA, and after that ZO does not help you either in North America; look at ZAG, ZAP, ZAX and ZED instead.
